Thieves Steal Sensors from Road Work Machine, HVAC Part from House Under Construction

The contractor pouring curbing for the Arnold Mill Road improvement project lost two string sensors from a machine left on site Dec. 17.

The $1,000 sensors were missing, and bolts attaching two other sensors were damaged in what appeared to be a failed attempt to steal them.

The project superintendent for CMES Inc. reported to Milton police on Dec. 18 that his crew parked the machine at the poured concrete island at Arnold Mill Road at 4:30 p.m. the day before. At 8 a.m. while loading the machine onto a flatbed trailer to move it, he noticed the two sensors were missing.

Thieves Steal HVAC Part, Damage Entire Unit

Thieves made off with an HVAC air handler and damaged the entire unit inside a house under construction in Lake Haven subdivision on Cogdell Trail.

A contractor for Edward Andrews Homes told Milton police on Dec. 18 that the theft and property damaged occurred some time between Dec. 13 and 15.
All of the copper plumbing valves also had been cut out, and two of them were stolen.

The officer told the contractor extra patrols would be made in the area.
