Teens Arrested for Underage Drinking, Drugs

Teens from Alpharetta, Milton and Johns Creek were arrested for alleged underage drinking and marijuana possession on their way home from a 311 concert after a Johns Creek Police officer pulled over a vehicle with an expired tag on July 21 on Medlock Bridge Road.

He said the vehicle was occupied by five people, all appearing to be teenagers. The officer asked the driver where they were coming from, and the driver said they had all gone to a 311 concert at Lakewood.

The officer stated in the report that he found this significant as other law enforcement officers have said that 311 concerts are often the scene of widespread drug and alcohol use.

The officer said he could smell alcohol coming from the vehicle, gathered everyone's IDs and asked the driver to step out of the vehicle.

The driver tested negative for alcohol. The front-seat passenger, a 17-year-old Johns Creek female, tested positive. An officer that arrived for back-up told the first officer that he needed to speak with a back-seat passenger who told him there were drugs in the vehicle. That passenger tested negative for alcohol.

The officer next spoke to a 17-year-old Alpharetta female who tested positive for alcohol. The last passenger, an 18-year-old Milton male, told the officer he had smoked marijuana belonging to someone else at the concert, and that he had a marijuana bowl in his pocket with what appeared to be marijuana residue inside it.

The officer found a Ziplock bag with a noticeable amount of what appeared to be marijuana in between where the Alpharetta female and Milton male were sitting. The driver told the officer it was the Alpharetta female's weed and that she had it when he first met her that evening. The female told the officer that only some of it was hers. The officers deduced that the rest belonged to the Milton male based on previous statements she had given the officers.

The 17-year-old Alpharetta female was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana – less than an ounce – a misdemeanor, and underage consumption of alcohol. The 18-year-old Milton male was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, less than an ounce. The 17-year-old Johns Creek female was charged with underage consumption of alcohol. The three were transported to the North Fulton Jail Annex in Alpharetta.

The driver of the vehicle was cited for an expired tag and was released. A fourth male was released with no charges.
