Suspect Caught Near Mall after Teenage Girl Hit, Robbed

A Riverdale man was arrested after a 17-year-old girl was hit in the head while walking in a crosswalk on North Point Parkway Saturday night.

Christopher Deven Day, 18, of Riverdale, was charged with robbery by intimidation or force and obstruction, according to George Gordon, spokesman for the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety.

The victim was walking in a crosswalk at North Point Court when she was assaulted. The suspect allegedly hit her in the face and stole her iPhone, George said. He fled on foot as the victim ran into Ruby Tuesday and called 911.

An Alpharetta police officer with his K-9 who was nearby arrived on the scene and ordered the suspect to stop. The man, later identified as Day, instead ran into the woods near North Point Mall. Officers sealed off the area and began their search of the woods. When Day was found, police say he refused to surrender and refused to show his hands, Gordon said. A K-9 was sent the suspect. After being bitten, Day was taken into custody. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Day was reported missing in Ohio last September but he is an adult, George said. The agency that reported him as missing will be contacted.
