Smoking with Bong While Driving Leads to Drug Charge
A Morrow man was arrested for trying to cash a fraudulent check.
An 18-year-old Alpharetta man was seen by a Fulton Sheriff's deputy allegedly smoking marijuana through a bong while driving through Alpharetta and was arrested by city police.
An incident report filed by Alpharetta Officer A. Elfreth states that Fulton County Deputy Kenyota Hill was driving north on Main Street in Alpharetta at 2:32 p.m. on March 17 when he spotted a man ingesting illegal drugs in a car he was following.
Preston M. Adler, 18, of Alpharetta, was cited for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and possession and use of drug-related objects.

A traffic safety checkpoint set up the night after St. Patrick's Day netted Alpharetta Police with a drug arrest.

Police were running the checkpoint at GA 9 and Cogburn Road at 10:17 p.m. on March 17 when a white Honda Civic was directed into the evaluation area. The motorist could not produce a driver's license. A check of the vehicle as an arrest was being made turned up what the incident report alleges were a glass pipe and bronze grinder under the driver's seat with what police identified as marijuana residue, and a plastic baggy in the console containing what police claim was 1 gram of marijuana.
Daniel K. Delana, 22, of Alpharetta, was cited for possession of marijuana and driving while unlicensed.
Morrow Man Arrested for Trying to Cash Fraudulent Check
A Morrow man who tried to cash a $2,895.12 check on the afternoon of March 18 at an Alpharetta bank instead was arrested on a first degree forgery charge.
When the suspect tried to cash the check against Just People at the First Citizens Bank on Haynes Bridge Road, a bank vice president called the organization to verify the check was genuine. The organization told her the check was fraudulent, and Alpharetta police were called.
Jerome G. Stacey, 44, of Morrow, was arrested on a forgery charge.
Search for Most Expensive iPad Leads to Woman's Arrest
A Woodstock woman arrested on March 17 at Best Buy in Alpharetta told police she got a fake driver's license and credit card from a man named Devin at the "West End Mall" in Atlanta.
The woman entered the store and asked to buy "the most expensive iPad available," according to an incident report filed by Officer D. Capps. When the names on the credit card and driver's license she provided didn't match, a store manager called Alpharetta police. After being arrested and placed in a patrol car, the woman gave her real name and told her story about being approached at the Atlanta mall several days earlier. The man asked if she wanted to make some cash, took her photo and called her on March 17. She was given the fake driver's license and brought to the North Point Circle store.
Denise L. Harrington, 33, of Woodstock, was cited for first degree forgery and financial transaction card fraud.
