Seat Belts, Drunk Drivers Will Get Special Attention This Holiday

The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety will look to see that you are wearing your seat belt, and if you are speeding or DUI.

If you don't click it, you're going to get a ticket. That's a promise from the , which announced the Governor’s Office of Highway safety’s “Click IT or Ticket” initiative is underway.

"As we celebrate the Memorial Day holiday period, Alpharetta police remind motorists to drive safely, obey traffic laws and use your seatbelts," wrote George Gordon, department spokesman, in the announcement. "Each year, hundreds of innocent Georgian’s lose their lives needlessly in vehicle crashes. Often these lives could have been saved if seatbelts were used."

Gordon said Alpharetta police will aggressively enforce traffic laws, putting a special emphasis on speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
