Roswell Man Charged with Breaking Into Cars

The following arrest information was supplied by the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety. It does not indicate a conviction.

A front desk clerk at in Alpharetta saw a man exit the building and enter a black Infinity parked in front of the building. After sitting in the vehicle for a few minutes, the man returned to the building, walking straight into the men's locker room.

A little while later, the man once again went out to the parking lot, getting into a Volvo this time. A few minutes later he was heading back into the locker room.

The clerk called Alpharetta police, and the suspect was arrested inside the fitness center. A search of his backpack revealed his Georgia ID card, wallet, some cash and a pair of bolt cutters. The suspect said the bolt cutters were for work, but he also said he was unemployed.

Antrone T. Hughes, 32, of Roswell, was charged with two felony counts of entering auto, three counts of theft by taking under $500 and possession of tools for the commission of a crime. He was released from Fulton County Jail on $27,500 bond on May 23.

Accident Catches Man With Altered ID on Ballistics Vest

An Alpharetta man who police say ran a red light at Haynes Bridge Road and Lakeview Parkway not only T-boned another car in what turned into a five-car accident; he also was charged with having a ballistics ("bulletproof") vest with an altered serial number.

On May 21 the motorist was driving eastbound on Haynes Bridge Road when Alpharetta police say he drove through the red light at the Lakeview Parkway intersection.. His car T-Boned a second car, and then drove into the northbound lanes of Lakeview Parkway, crashing into two more cars. One of those cars then hit a fifth car.

The driver of the first car that was hit sustained head and neck injuries, and was taken to North Fulton Hospital.

The first driver was arrested and charged with reckless driving. Police report he resisted arrest, and tried to kick out a window once he was put in the back of a patrol car.

A search of his car revealed a black ballistics vest with an altered serial number and a fully loaded 9mm firearm.

The 24-year-old Alpharetta man was charged with four misdemeanors: reckless driving, resisting arrest, no proof of insurance and criminal use of article with altered ID mark.

Driving Too Slow Is Illegal, Too

It is possible to get ticketed for driving too slowly, as a Forsyth County man learned on May 24.

An Alpharetta police officer saw a car stop abruptly on North Main Street at the Mayfield Road intersection even though the light was green. After sitting there for aΒ  few seconds, the car drove off slowly.

The officer stopped the vehicle at the Citgo gas station, and arrested the driver for driving while unlicensed and impeding traffic flow.

Speeder Reaches 60 mph At Lunchtime on Windward

A Roswell resident caught an Alpharetta motorcycle officer's eye at lunchtime on May 23 by driving 60 mph on Windward Parkway, which has a posted 40 mph speed limit.

The motorcycle officer was checking for speeding with his laser unit when he clocked a vehicle in the eastbound lane driving at 60 mph.

The driver was charged with speeding and driving while unlicensed because he told the officer he did not have a license, showing a Mexican passport and Consulate card.

Speeding Made Woman Even Later to Work

A 23-year-old Atlanta woman was running late for work on May 21 at 11:41 p.m., but she never got there after being stopped for speeding.

An Alpharetta police officer was running stationary laser on GA 400 northbound at Old Milton Parkway when he spotted a car driving at what he estimated was 90 mph. A check of the laser unit showed the vehicle was moving at 94 mph. in a 65 mph zone.

The officer discovered her driver's license was suspended, so she was charged with that and speeding.
