Police: Man Pretending to Be Fulton Deputy Scams Locals

Multiple victims have already come forward.

Local police are warning residents about a scam in which a man claims to be a Fulton County Sheriff’s Deputy.

According to several locals who've fallen victim to the scam, the man calls and tells a resident that there is a warrant for their arrest for speeding through the toll booth on GA 400. He then claims that the warrant will be voided if they pay a fine by credit card or money order.

"This is a scam," authorities wrote in an alert on Monday morning. "The police department or sheriff’s office would never call you for a payment. Do not give out your credit card information, bank account number or purchase a money order."
