Jewelry Store Owner, Employee Capture Robbery Suspect

The Sabri Guven jewelry store on Haynes Bridge Road was the scene of a robbery Tuesday afternoon, but the store owner wasn't willing to let the suspects get away with a diamond ring.

A jewelry store owner got help from an employee and a witness in capturing one of two robbery suspects who pulled a gun during a struggle Tuesday afternoon.

The Alpharetta 911 center received a call at 5:04 p.m. reporting a robbery had taken place at the Sabri Guven Fine Jewelry store at the corner of Haynes Bridge Road Β and Old Milton Parkway, said George Gordon, spokesman for the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety.

Alpharetta police arrived to find the store owner and an employee holding a suspect down in the front parking lot of the store, Gordon said.
Two men entered the store at about 5 p.m. and asked to see a diamond ring. Once one of the men had the ring in hand, the men ran out the front door. The owner chased the men and tried to stop one of them. As the two men struggled, a jewelry store employee ran out of the store and helped his boss get control of the suspect.
The suspect pulled out a handgun during the struggle, which one of the men grabbed. With the struggle continuing, a witness from the store ran over and took the handgun away from the fight.
