Police Arrest Alpharetta Man on Drug Charges in Traffic Stop

A 29-year-old Alpharetta man was arrested on drug charges on Friday, Dec. 6 after an Alpharetta police officer stopped his vehicle at Old Milton Parkway and Haynes Bridge Road for having an expired tag.

The driver appeared nervous to the officer and he smelled the odor of freshly sprayed cologne or air freshener spray in the vehicle, prompting him to ask to search the car After getting permission, the officer found a small amount of what he suspected was marijuana in the driver's side hand drip and behind the driver seat on the floorboard. The officer then found a glass jar with a small amount of suspected marijuana and a small bag containing 19 Vyvanse pills, a schedule II narcotic in the center console.

David Scott Lakritz, 29, of Sweetberry Court, Alpharetta, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a schedule II narcotic and expired tag. He was released from Fulton County Jail on a $6,300 bond.
