Cartersville High Teacher Accused of Inappropriate Contact with Student – Cartersville Patch
Principal Steven Butler told police he received a complaint Thursday about 10:30 a.m. from a female student, who is a juvenile and said she had been inappropriately touched by a male teacher, according to the Cartersville Police Department incident report, attached to this article.
Butler notified police Friday morning about 9:30 that the victim had reported "several occasions" of inappropriate touching by the teacher that she said occurred during class on campus at the high school. See more on this story on Cartersville Patch.
Marietta Cop Cab Combats Drinking and Driving - Marietta Patch
The Marietta Police Department has launched a new campaign called “Cop Cab” to curb drinking and driving. The Cop Cab campaign visually combines the efforts of DUI education and the inevitable end result of DUI enforcement.
"It’s an educational tool we are using to try to prevent drinking and driving," Marietta Police Officer David Baldwin said. "If we talk in a seminar, we reach a small group of people in the scheme of things, but with the Cop Cab, we can put it out in high profile areas like in the Square. 20th Year for Magical Nights of Lights - Duluth Patch
Lake Lanier Islands Resort in Buford will flip the switch on its Magical Nights of Lights for the 20th year on Friday, Nov. 16. During its debut on Nov. 20, 1993, occupants of an estimated 76 cars saw about 40 animated light displays and stopped to visit with Santa in a large tent at the end of the tour.
Over the past two decades, the show has drawn an estimated 200,000 to 250,000 people through the gates of Lake Lanier Islands for the holiday lights driving tour. The 20th anniversary edition will include favorite light displays and introduce a few additions. Find all the details at Duluth Patch.
Police Investigate Cemetery Vandalism – Decatur Patch
Decatur police are trying to find out who spray painted racial and anti-Semitic slurs and obscenities on the gazebo, roadway and a wall at the Decatur City Cemetery.
The vandalism was discovered Saturday morning by a cemetery worker preparing for a service, said Joy Knight of the cemetery office. It included drawings of a devil face, sex organs, references to Satan and racial and anti-Semitic slurs, the police report stated. Decatur Patch has more on the story.
