Deputy Crashes Patrol Car Allegedly DUI; Lingerie Football Coming to GA

Georgia State Patrol reports a Gwinnett County sheriff's deputy's vehicle was involved in a wreck at 1:20 a.m. this morning on Georgia Highway 81 at Double Springs Road in Walton County.

According to the trooper, a Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department vehicle ran off the road, struck an embankment and overturned several times.  In a press release, GSP reported that nobody was around the vehicle when first responders arrived. Barrow Patch has the full story.

Cartersville Police Identify Stabbing Death Victim

Cartersville authorities held a press conference today on a stabbing death that took place Tuesday morning. The victim has been identified as Candice Piper, 29, of Cartersville.

A suspect has been arrested and charged with murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault and two counts of false imprisonment.

Lingerie Football League Coming to Gwinnett

The metro Atlanta area will soon become home to another sports team.

The Lingerie Football League announced yesterday Gwinnett County will be home to the league’s 12th team. The LFL is currently accepting name suggestions for the new team.

Olympic Gold Medalist Returns to Wheeler

U.S. track and field star Aries Merritt will speak to students at his alma mater, Wheeler High School on Friday at 10 a.m.
