Milton Teen Charged with Leaving Scene after Car Sideswiped

The following arrest information was supplied by the Milton police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Milton teen made sure he told his dad he'd just been in an accident, but he should have stayed at the scene to avoid a brief trip to jail.

On July 5 a woman was driving northbound on Freemanville Road just before 8 p.m. when another vehicle turned out of Dinsmore Road onto the road. The other driver lost control of his vehicle, sideswiping the woman's vehicle.

When he failed to stop after the accident, the woman turned around and followed him until losing him after his vehicle drove into White Columns Country Club. When Milton police responded to the call, they spotted an SUV matching the vehicle's description attempting to leave the subdivision. At first the driver said the damage to the SUV was from an earlier date, but the driver changed his story and admitted being involved in the accident. He said he had driven away to call his dad about the wreck. His passenger confirmed what happened.
