Milton Man Who Accidentally Shot Himself Faces Charge

 To add insult to injury, a Milton man who shot himself in the leg on Oct. 19 was charged by with discharging a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.

The Milton man and his brother were examining the brother's pistol in his Birmingham Highway home. The man removed the magazine for the pistol, but had chambered  round and then shot himself in the leg while examining the barrel.

Douglasville Woman Arrested for DUI, Open Bottles of Rum

A 27-year-old Douglasville woman was arrested for DUI at 12:51 a.m. on Oct. 16 after a Milton police officer spotted a 2004 Lexus Rx330 cross into the gore and across the double yellow line while traveling northbound on GA 9 near Oakside Circle.

The incident report stated the driver of the car slammed on the brakes when the officer turned on his blue lights, and then turned right into .

The driver was arrested for DUI, driving with an open container of alcohol and failure to maintain lane.

An empty bottle of rum was found in the glove compartment, and a half full bottle was found in the passenger floorboard when the car was searched after being impounded.

 Passenger's Failure to Wear Seat Belt Ends in DUI

A 34-year-old Milton woman probably wishes her passenger had worn his seat belt after her car was stopped on Oct. 16 at 3:28 p.m.

While the first Milton police officer questioned the passenger, whose breath smelled of alcohol, a second officer questioned the driver–who also smelled of alcohol.

The driver was arrested on charges of DUI and open container of alcohol while driving.

Officers found a cup with rum and Coke in it under the passenger's seat upon searching the 2002 Pontiac Sunfire, which was impounded.

 Stop for Speeding Turns Into DUI Case

A Milton police officer stopped a car being driven 67 mph on Cogburn Road near the Hermitage Drive, and the driver now faces more charges than speeding.

A 37-year-old Cumming man was arrested on a DUI charge, speeding, driving with an open container of alcohol and false representation to police after Milton police stopped him on Oct. 21 at 8:34 p.m. on Cogburn Road near the Hermitage Drive.

After his 2007 Chevrolet Impala was impounded, police found two empty vodka bottles and one that was three quarters full in the car.
