Milton Helps Rescue Horse in Northwest Cherokee

The horse appeared to be in distress under an old bridge on Hancock Mountain Trail.

Authorities on Tuesday morning rescued a horse in northwestern Cherokee's Salacoa community.

The horse appeared to be in distress under an old bridge on Hancock Mountain Trail when theΒ  arrived on the scene at about 11:20 a.m. today, agency spokesman Tim Cavender said.

The Milton Large Animal Rescue Team and a wrecker service were called to the scene to help lift the animal back on its feet. After two attempts, rescuers were able to pull up the horse so it could stand.Β

"The horse was later led out of the area and taken to a nearby pasture," Cavender said.
