Milton Firehouse Subs Manager Spots Counterfeit $100 Bills

The following information was supplied by the Milton police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A manager at on GA 9 checked a $100 bill twice because a customer acted very nervous when she tested the bill to see if it was counterfeit after the man had ordered food on Oct. 18 at 7:27 p.m.

The pen she used to check didn't show it was counterfeit, but checking the back of the bill showed the printing was crooked. When she held it up to the light, she could see it was a $5 bill that had been printed over.

She asked for another form of payment because the bill was counterfeit, and the man gave her a credit card, which was declined. The man acted agitated when she refused to return the counterfeit bill.

Three days later another man tried to pass another counterfeit $100 bill and the manager caught this one also. The man claimed it came from a check cashing business down the street, and left the store. An employee was unable to get the tag number on his car, as it was parked away from the store.

At the same time this suspect tried to pass this counterfeit bill, three more counterfeit $100 bills with the same serial number were passed at neighboring businesses.

Fulton County Commission, Bank Hit by Counterfeit Checks

A branch employee became suspicious when a second person in two days came in to cash a check on an account with "music production" written in the memo line.

This second $2,500 check also turned out to be fraudulent. A man had opened the account two days earlier with a $7,598.23 check made out from the Fulton County Commissioner's Office that also was fraudulent.

Milton detectives determined the man arrested after attempting to pass the fraudulent check at the Windward bank did so unknowingly, and he was released.
