Milton Couple Victim of Tax Return Fraud

An Avensong Village Circle couple was the latest to fall victim of identity fraud, discovered by their CPA when he attempted to file their joint tax return.

The couple came to on May 29 to obtain a police report after their accountant told them he was unable to file their tax return because someone had already filed a tax return in their names.

The couple had a copy of IRS Form 14039 Identity Theft Affidavit, and needed a police report.

Gas, Dinner Bought in Debit Card Fraud

A Morris Road man called on Milton police two days after someone fraudulently used his debit card information for three purchases.

The victim told police that his bank, Wells Fargo, reported three possibly fraudulent purchases on his debit card were made on May 27. Two purchases were made at a Norcross Chevron station, with a third purchase at an El Taco Veloz restaurant in Atlanta. The total spent in the financial transaction fraud was approximately $100.
