Milton Chief Attends Seminar on Violence Against Women

Chief Deborah Harrell will join other law enforcement leaders to attend the 16th annual National Law Enforcement Leadership Institute on Violence Against Women.

Milton Police Chief Deborah Harrell was just one of 30 law enforcement leaders attending the 16th National Law Enforcement Leadership Institute on Violence Against Women.

The four-day seminar in Savannah was hosted by The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and ends this week.

Harrell, along with the other participants, "will explore innovative approaches for investigating crimes of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and stalking," according to a press release from the city of Milton.

The conference will give the chief the tools to help victims and bring perpetrators to justice.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for Milton to benefit from the best methods of prevention and response to crimes against women," Harrell said. "It is an honor and a privilege to have been chosen to attend."

Harrell's cost to attend the conference is covered by a grant to the IACP from the U.S. Department of Justice's Office on Violence Against Women

The International Association of Chiefs of Police is the world's oldest and largest non-profit membership organization of police executives, with more than 22,500 members in 108 different countries.
