Loaded Gun, Credit Cards, House Key Taken from SUV While Woman Hiked

The following information was supplied by the Milton police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

An Alpharetta woman lost a loaded handgun, camera equipment, credit cards and other items left inside her purse when she went for a hike in Birmingham Park.

The woman parked her Toyota Sequoia at the park on Nov. 25 at 2:50 p.m. when she went for the hike, returning at 4 p.m. When she got back to her vehicle, she saw a window was shattered, her purse had been taken from the front passenger seat along with the loaded Ruger .38 special handgun.

The contents of her purse included many credit cards, though those have since been cancelled. Additionally her checkbook and house key were in the purse. Also missing were a Nikon digital camera and lenses along with a camera bag.

The front passenger seat window was smashed, and the vehicle's door was damaged during the theft.
