Hopewell Road Home Site of Home Invasion

Two armed men ransacked a Milton couple's home, but fled when they heard police sirens.

A Hopewell Road home was the scene of a home invasion this morning that has Milton police searching for two Hispanic males.

A call came in to the Alpharetta 911 dispatch center at 11:10 a.m. to report the home invasion, said Captain Shawn McCarty of the Milton Police Department.

The homeowners run a business out of their home and this morning a man came to their door, asking about employment. When they told him they didn't have anything for him, the man said "Thanks for your time." But then he pulled out a firearm.

"He came inside along with another Hispanic male," McCarty said.

"One person sat and watched all the people in the house while the other went throughout the house," he said.

As the house was being ransacked, one of the victims managed to get out of the house and over to a neighbor's home to call police.

"When they heard the sirens, they both fled the house on foot," McCarty said.

"We are still looking for them. They obviously have gone from the area," he said.

Police managed to track the men with a police dog for a while, but they assume the suspects were picked up by someone with a vehicle.

The men were able to get away with a small amount of money.

No one was hurt in the home invasion, McCarty said.

He said investigators are still interviewing the victims and hope to get a composite sketch of the two suspects.

If you have any information about this home invasion or believe you saw the suspects, McCarty said to call the police at 678-242-2570 and leave a voicemail if an officer does not answer; the calls will be checked.
