Ramp Fight Ends With No Charges

Two motorists on GA 400 gave Alpharetta Police very different accounts of a fight they reportedly had at the end of the southbound ramp at Windward Parkway, but they agreed on one thing: neither wanted to press charges.

The Cumming man driving a pickup truck said he was driving southbound on GA 400 when he saw someone driving a recklessly, passing other cars in the emergency lane at a high speed, according to an incident report. When he exited at Windward Parkway, he saw the car, driven by an Alpharetta man, at the bottom of the ramp. Fearing for his two children, he said got out of his truck to confront the other driver. The two men agree the Alpharetta driver got out of his car with a piece of wood in his hand, and that the Cumming man grabbed the wood and punched the other driver in the face twice.

The Alpharetta man who had just been punched called police from his apartment. He told police that he had been rushing to get to his mother's house to let her dog out when the pickup truck driver swerved to cut him off to prevent passing, and "brake checked" him several times. When he got past the truck, he exited at Windward Parkway. Once he got to the end of the exit, he said he realize he'd never get home in time, so he started backing up the exit ramp to change lanes to turn right instead of left. That's when he noticed the truck in front of. The Cumming man got out of the truck looked twice his size, so he got out of his own vehicle with the piece of wood that was 6 inches long and 2 inches wide. He confirmed he was punched twice and had the wood pulled out of his hand. He said he told the other driver he would be calling police.
