Guardrail Goes Through Windshield in DUI Wreck

A 19-year-old Cumming man should have taken advantage of the designated driver he was offered after an evening out on May 13.

Milton Officer P. Fregosi reported responding to an accident scene near Hopewell and Francis roads at 2 a.m. on May 13. He found a red Toyota Celica wrecked into the guardrail over the bridge on Cogburn Road. The guard rail had gone through the windshield and into the passenger seat.

A coworker from said he was drunk by the time she got to around midnight, according to the incident report. She cut him off, and said she had a designated driver for both of them. But he left, later calling her to say he had wrecked.

James e. Burchette, 19, of Cumming, was charged with DUI, failure to maintain and possession of false identification.

Milton Officer J.M. Hickerson was watching southbound traffic at 5:35 p.m. on May 9 on Deerfield Parkway at Morris Road when a gold Toyota Camry sped by at 54 mph in a 35 mph zone.
When he stopped the car, Officer Hickerson said he saw two ber bottles in the center console and a 12-pack of beer in the passenger side floorboard.

Melcho Aranda-aquilar, 41, of Alpharetta, was charged with DUI, open container, no driver's license, speeding and failure to maintain lane.

Car Failing to Maintain Lanes Puts Driver Under Arrest

A Roswell woman was arrested on May 11 at 5 a.m. after a Milton police officer spotted a vehicle on GA 9 just north of Deerfield Parkway when he saw a black Mazda ahead of him cross the center line and the fog line.

Jillian L. Birzes, 22, of Roswell, was charged with DUI and failure to maintain lane.
