GSP Continues Hunt For Truck, Trailer Involved in Fatal Accident

Brian Edward Durst of Alpharetta was fatally struck by a tire that slipped off a trailer being pulled by a truck on Interstate 75 in Lamar County.

The Georgia State Patrol continues to search for the vehicle and trailer involved in the fatal accident that took the life of an Alpharetta man in Lamar County.

After interviewing witnesses on Wednesday, investigators now believe the trailer and vehicle in the photos attached to the article are similar to the ones involved in the accident, which killed 53-year-old Brian Edward Durst on July 14.

Durst was changing his vehicle in the emergency lane on the southbound side of the interstate around mile marker 198 when the incident occurred.

"Investigators are treating this as an accidental death, and believe that the driver may have not known that the incident occurred," the agency said in a press release. "The victim was not hit by the trailer."

The pictures and video were taken from a camera inside a Lamar County sheriff’s deputy's vehicle. One photo shows a dark colored pick-up truck and the other shows the flat-bed trailer that was being pulled by a pick-up truck.
