Golfers Raise $20,000 for a New Milton Police Dog

The tournament at Echelon Golf Club helped raise funds to replace a retired K-9 officer.

More than 110 golfers raised more than $20,000 for a new K-9 officer to replace a retired Milton police dog early this week.

The 114 golfers at the Echelon Golf Club in Alpharetta helped raise the funds by playing in the tournament despite a windy day.

Since DaSilva’s retirement in late 2012 after six years of service to the department, Milton has been without a needed K-9. DaSilva was privately donated to the city from residents, and the department needs help again to ensure effective policing.
