Milton Resident Becomes Aware of Fraud Attempt

Capital One's fraud prevention measures appears to have saved a Milton resident from identity theft. On Nov. 8, an officer met with the Milton resident, who told the officer that someone tried to open an account with Capital One using the victim's Social Security number. The resident wanted to file a report for documentation purposes.

A Capital One representative had contacted the resident and to tell him of the possible fraudulent attempt. The representative assured the victim that an account was not open due to the suspicious behavior, but suggested filing a police report.
