$19,300 in Fraudulent Checks Written on Milton Couple's Account

A Saddlesprings Drive resident who was checking his account balance online noticed two counterfeit checks totaling $19,300 were written against his account

The victim and his wife hadn't written the checks, and only three checks were used by them in the entire month, he told Milton police on July 30.

The man said a Bank of America case manager confirmed the two checks were forged. She promised to put a "freeze" on the account so that no other fraudulent checks could be written against it.

Zaxby's on GA 9 in Milton was burglarized, with three men taking cash and cash register tills from the restaurant.

An assistant manager of the restaurant discovered the tills were missing even though the alarm was still set.

Surveillance footage shows the three men, who were wearing hoodies and an unkown material covering their faces, breaking into the restaurant. Three cash tills containing $150 each in bills and coins were taken, and a fourth till was pried open and its $150 was stolen. A fifth till remained untouched in the office.

Two visible footprints were found on a counter and on the door to the office where the tills were kept.
