Former NFL Quarterback Kordell Stewart Charged with Speeding

Alpharetta police pull over white SUV on Windward Parkway.

Former NFL quarterback Kordell Stewart's drive through Alpharetta ended suddenly on Wednesday afternoon when Alpharetta police pulled his vehicle over for speeding.

According to an incident report filed by Officer B. Maciel, a 2010 Land Rover was driving at 61 mph on Windward Parkway near Compasse Point Crossing, in a story first seen on CBSAtlanta.com. The posted speed limit is 40 mph.

A check on his driver's license showed an outstanding warrant for failure to appear out of Conyers, and that his license was suspended as of July 5, 2010.
Stewart, 38, of Atlanta, was taken to the Alpharetta Jail where he was charged with driving on suspended license and speeding. His vehicle was impounded.

The Conyers Police Department also was notified.

Alpharetta Police Executive Officer George Gordon said Stewart was cooperative throughout the incident.
