Forged Checks Bedevil Milton Woman

A Highgrove Club Drive resident had to close a bnak account because someone forged checks using her bank's routing number and her account number.

On May 22 a Milton police officer met with the victim, who said a forged check for $75 was written at a Walmart on Johnson Ferry Road in Marietta. She had her bank stop payment on the check, but on May 21 she received a letter from Walmart demanding full payment. She call Walmart to tell them it was an unauthorized check.

This wasn't the first time the Milton resident had troubles with that account. Her April bank statement had an even bigger forged check on it. This check was made out to Home Depot for $543.50. The suspect used a US Bank check, but used her account number and the routing number for her bank, Fidelity.

An Autumn Close resident lost credit cards and a $500 silver ring to a thief who entered her garage and took items from her vehicle.

The victim told Milton police on May 24 that she parked her vehicle and closed the garage door at 5 p.m. When she went to her vehicle the next morning, her purse and all of its contents were gone. She lost six credit and debit cards, her driver's license and a silver ring.

She was advised to cancel all of her credit and debit cards, check her accounts for unusual charges and tell her banks about the theft.

Mother Promise Charges Againt Horse Farm Owner Who Didn't Return Saddle

An Alpharetta mother who has been in a dispute over past payments to a Milton horse farm wants to get her daughter's saddle and two pairs of riding boots fromΒ  the horse farm, and on May 24 she got Milton police involved.

The horse farm owner first told the officer that the motehr owed her money. However, the officer said that was a civil matter and she couldn't keep the property. The horse farm owner said she thought the mother already picked up the boots and saddle, and she didn't know where they are.

When the officer got back to the mother, she said she would puruse a warrant for theft by conversion over the $880 in riding gear.
