Fake Bills, Forged Prescription, IDs Found in Suspect's Car

Alpharetta police didn't have to stop a 33-year-old Duluth man's vehicle to take him into custody on a probation violation warrant out of Duluth. His car broke down at the intersection of North Point Parkway and Kimball Bridge Road.

An Alpharetta officer spotted the suspect's car on June 5 at 9:29 a.m. at the intersection, and stopped to help out. The vehicle's license plate was checked and the officer discovered the owner was wanted on the probation violation. An incident report states that the suspect tried to swing his arms to get released by the officer, and both men ended up on the ground. Once he was handcuffed, the suspect became compliant.

An inventory of the suspect's car, which was being impounded, turned up eight fake bills of U.S. currency, a paper cutter, two fake Georgia ID cards with the suspect's photo and different names, a glass pipe and a metal pipe. Also found was  a prescription with someone else's name, and an altered version of that prescription with the suspect's name as patient instead.

Michael J. Ellis, 33, of Duluth, was arrested and charged with two counts of second degree forgery, two counts of identify fraud, resisting arrest and driving while license suspended. He was released from Fulton County Jail on June 8 on $19,000 bond.

Windward Dad Runs Three Stop Signs on Way Home

A Windward dad wasn't too happy with being stopped by an Alpharetta police officer that he said pulled him over for the same offense before–running a stop sign. His reaction to the traffic stop escalated into a trip to the Fulton County Jail in handcuffs.

The officer said in an incident report that he saw the suspect's SUV run a stop sign at Club House Drive at Mariners Ridge at 10-15 mph. When the officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, the dirver ran a second stop sign. As the officer explained the stop he said the driver was hostile and had "hammered him for the same thing last time."

After telling the driver he was being cited for running the second stop sign, the officer returned to his patrol car with the man's driver's license. While he was in his patrol car, the man drove off, and the officer again followed him with his lights flashing. The driver ran a third stop sign until he pulled into a driveway and up to the home's garage.

The driver was arrested and charged with three counts of stop sign violation and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
