Driver Charged in Accident that Killed Alpharetta Man

A car driven by a man who Forsyth authorities say was driving under the influence struck a pedestrian, who died at the hospital on Friday night.

A man who was walking across Hwy. 9 (Atlanta Highway) in south Forsyth just past the Fulton County line on Friday evening was struck by a van and later died, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

Felix Escorcia, 45, of Alpharetta, was taken to North Fulton Hospital where he later died.

Forsyth Traffic Specialist Investigator Ron Tomblin said in a press release that Escorcia was crossing Hwy. 9 near Pine Ridge Mobile Home Park where he lived. As he was walking in the southbound lane, he was struck by a 2004 Chevrolet van that was traveling southbound. Michael Dean Masi, 48, also of Alpharetta, was the driver of that vehicle, according to Tomblin's release.
