Cop Adds Drug Charge to Speeding Case

The following arrest information was supplied by the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Cumming woman tried to make it easier for an Alpharetta police officer during a traffic stop on July 15 by putting a couple of bags with heroin residue out in plain sight on her car's seat.

The officer was driving southbound on GA 400 north of the Forsyth/Fulton line when he spotted a 2013 Hyundai Elantra speeding. His radar recorded her car's speed as 86 mph, but it reached 89 mph by the time they reached Fulton County and he pulled her over.

The officer learned the woman had her driver's license suspended twice for failure to appear. He also found an eyeglass holder that contained a heroin kit and more plastic bags with what she called heroin residue inside her purse.
