Concertgoers Arrested for Underage Drinking, Drug Possession

The following arrest information was supplied by the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety. It does not indicate a conviction.

Several concertgoers at the Project 961 Cinco Party at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre learned that underage drinking was a ticket to jail.

A 20-year-old Snellville man was in a parking lot holding a beer at 4:27 p.m. when Alpharetta police asked for his ID. After first saying he didn't have it, the man pulled out his wallet and showed his driver's license. Once he was taken to the security office at the facility, he allegedly tried to hide a bag with capsules behind the bench where he sat. A field test kit showed it tested positive for Ecstasy.

Scott Alan Maroney, 20, of Snellville, was charged with possession of a Schedule I drug and taken to jail. He was released on May 8 on an $8,000 bond.

A 19-year-old Peachtree City cook sitting on a pick-up truck tailgate next to a cooler and a can of beer at 3:30 p.m. was one of the first arrested for underage possession of alcoholic beverages.

At 5:41 p.m., a 20-year-old Oxford woman was seen with a beer in her hand by an officer working extra duty detail. When asked, she said she was 21, but her mother confirmed she was 20. She was charged with underage possession of alcoholic beverages.

Two hours later, a 19-year-old Grayson man should have realized wearing a T-shirt that proclaimed he was drunk wasn't a good idea. But neither was being drunk, swaying as he stood in line at a bar counter in the amphitheater.  He also was arrested for underage possession of alcoholic beverages.

Finally, at 8:30 p.m., a 19-year-old welder from Carrolton was seen staggering at the lawn seating area. The man said he was 21, and showed the officer a driver's license. But the photo wasn't of the suspect, who also couldn't tell the officer what birth date was on the ID. Like the other suspects, he was taken to Fulton County Jail in Alpharetta after being arrested for underage possession of alcoholic beverages.
