Several people were injured when a car crashed into a wings restaurant on Windward Parkway in Milton today, but it could have been much worse had it happened just a little later in the morning when the shop was open for lunch.
Milton Police Chief Deborah Harrell said dispatchers received the call of an accident at at 10:46 a.m. and a Milton officer was there within a minute.
"The restaurant was open but did not have any patrons at the time," the police chief said.
"A 47-year-old female was pulling into aparking spot and for an unknown reason hit the accelerator, causing the vehicle to jump the sidewalk and enter the restaurant," Chief Harell said in an email response to questions about the accident.

Two employees were injured, she said, one with minor injuries and one with a serious leg injury. The driver also complained of injuries. All three were transported to North Fulton Hospital.
Charges are pending an investigation, according to Chief Harrell.
At least three patrol units responded to the scene.
