California Thief Steals Money from Milton Man's Account

The following information was supplied by the Milton police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A Milton man reported to police on Jan. 22 that someone in California took $3,400 out of his Chase bank account on Jan. 11.

The victim said it appeared the person used blank forms from the bank to fill in his account information and made three withdrawals from the account.

The victim told Milton police he has closed that account.

The daughter hadn't lived there for more than a year and believed a computer and monitor were missing from the home. Her stepfather had returned to Atlanta and was contacted. Meeting with Milton police at the home, he confirmed that the Apple computer and monitor, and a camera, were missing from the home.

No evidence of a break-in was found. The man said a friend had checked the house on Jan. 21 and nothing was missing. Milton police had checked the home in previous weeks and had no incidents to report. He thought it was odd that his stepdaughter was even checking on the house, as she hadn't been asked to do it.
