Electronics Stolen from Windward Parkway Store

The following information was supplied by the Milton police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A low tech rock appears to have been used to break into a store on Windward Parkway on Nov. 20. Someone made away with TVs, a DVD and headphones.

A Milton police officer was dispatched to the store at approximately 12:36 a.m. because of an alarm. Another officer from the Alpharetta police department arrived as backup. The Milton officer noticed that the front right glass door was still locked but had been shattered.

One of the officers noticed a medium sized rock on the floor inside the store surrounded by glass and some of the racks near the headphones section were empty. The officer also noticed a damaged Hitachi 22” LED flat screen television, valued at $89.97, laying on the ground. In addition, miscellaneous items had been thrown from their respective racks.

The store manager arrived and reported the following as missing:

  • 1 Monster Solos Headphones valued at $179.99
  • 3 Soul SL 150CB HP Black/Chrome headphones valued at $199.99
  • 1 Hitachi LED 19” Class Ultra Thin flat screen television valued at $199.99
  • 1 Visio 22” LED Razor flat screen television valued at $299.99
  • 1 Visio 32” LCD flat screen television valued at $299.99
  • 1 Sylvania 9” portable DVD player valued at $199.99

Burglary Reported at AT&T Store

An attempted burglary at the store in the shopping center on Hwy. 9 appears to have failed after suspects forced their way into a computer room on Nov. 14.

Milton police officers responded to a burglary report at 11 p.m. Once inside, the building was found empty but a locked interior door was found pried open.

The store manager arrived and went through the store with officers. He said that nothing appeared to be missing and said the pried interior door only provided access to the computer room.

The manager reviewed video from the security cameras and saw that at 10:46 p.m., several subjects approach the front door. One subject can be seen trying to pry the door open with a pry bar. A second subject grabbed the door and helped force the lock.

Once the door came open, three suspects rushed into the store while a fourth kept watch outside. When the lookout entered the store, all four suspects ran out of the store and went east into a shopping center. No merchandise appeared to have been stolen.

Electronics Stolen From Milton Resident's Apartment

A Sandringham Drive apartment resident just thought he had misplaced his iPad2 on Nov. 12, but came to a different conclusion when his MacBook Pro laptop was missing when he came home from shopping two days later.

The victim was changing his front door locks when Milton police resonded to the burglary call. He didn't find any damage, so he thinks the person who entered his apartment must have had a key.

The victim said that an air conditioner technician had recently come over unannounced and he had let him in as it was common for them to come by unscheduled to service the air conditioner. The victim left the technician unattended to go to work and could not recall the technician's name.

No other items appeared to be missing and the victim was able to provide serial numbers for both items.

Stolen Merchandise Found in Nearby Brush

A Milton police dog managed to track a shoplifting suspect at the shopping center after he fled the Walmart parking lot, but the suspect got away before backup arrived.

A Milton police officer responded to a shoplifting in progress at Wal-Mart on Nov. 15 at 11:39 a.m. The witness said that she saw someone leave with a shopping card full of stolen merchandise.

She also stated that a man tried to divert her attention as she performed her duties as a Wal-Mart greeter and merchandise checker. She attempted to stop the man with the cart, but was unsuccessful.

The witness saw the man run with the cart through the parking lot toward the RBC Centura Bank. The area was searched and the cart was found in a vacant lot south of the bank overturned in thick brush. The $508 worth of merchandise was recovered.

Random bystanders said they saw  a man running with a full shopping cart. The man was described as approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, 170 pounds and was wearing a black T-shirt, black pants and an earring. He was seen running toward the Kroger shopping center.

A police dog tracked the suspect to the Kroger shopping center. At approximately noon, an officer made contact with a person matching witnesses descriptions and the suspect ran.

The pursuing officer called for backup and together the officers were led to the area of Commonweath Circle and Windward Village Parkway. Witnesses said they spotted a man matching the suspect's description. Officers searched the area but could not locate him.

iPad, Notebook Stolen from Truck at Milton Restaurant

A woman who was driving a rental truck on Nov. 18 lost an iPad and an HP notebook after visiting a restaurant on Windward Parkway in Milton.

The victim told the officer who responsed at 7:39 p.m. that she was driving a rental car and had parked in the parking lot of the business around 2 p.m. Unfamiliar with the keyless locking system of the vehicle, she thought she had locked it but was unsure if she actually had.

When she returned to her home around 5 p.m., she noticed both the iPad and notebook were missing, both were valued at $500.

Victim Wants to Track Stolen Laptop

A Gunston Hall Circle resident reported a laptop was stolen from a van operated by his organization.

On Nov. 19, at 9:51 a.m. an officer was told by the victim that between Sept. 1 and Nov. 19 he and other employees in his company have operated the van. The victim kept an $1,100 laptop in the van. He also said that the vehicle operated throughout the Atlanta metro area.

No physical evidence could be recovered, but the victim said that a location device or program may be installed on the computer. Toshiba required a police report to provide the presence of absence of such a device or program. A report has been filed and the laptop was declared stolen.

Concerned Citizen Notifies Police of Suspicious Driving

A local resident called police on Nov. 17 to report a possible drunk driver, and shortly after that a suspect was found passed out in a car at a nearby gas station.

At approximately 7:25 p.m. on Nov. 17, an officer was dispatched to the on Deerfield Parkway in reference to a possible drunk driver. The caller said that the vehicle failed to maintain lane and the passenger door was ajar. The driver then pulled into the gas station’s parking lot.

The Milton police officer saw a vehicle parked alongside the car wash with the back right passenger side door ajar. The officer noticed that the engine was running and the driver appeared to be unconscious in the driver's seat.

The officer noticed two 100 millimeter bottles of Jim Beam sitting in the front passenger seat with very little alcohol inside of them.

The driver was arrested and charged with DUI, open container and license not on person.

Man Charged With DUI and Open Container

An officer was traveling north bound on Cogburn Road just north of Bethany Bend on Nov. 14  at 1:53 a.m. when he saw a black Jeep cross the yellow line just south of Devonshire Farms Way.

When stopped, the driver said he was coming from where he had one drink.

While another officer prepared the driver's car for impound, they noticed three open beer cans, some still containing alcohol, which were covered by a bag and jacket.

The driver was taken to the Alpharetta Jail and charged with failure to maintain lane, dui alcohol, dui less safe, expired registration and operating a vehicle with an open container.
