Bank Teller's Suspicions Land Florida Woman in Jail

A Florida woman was arrested on Jan. 13 on a charge she attempted to forge a check from another Florida resident made out to a North Carolina resident. But a Milton bank teller thought she was acting suspicious, trying to hide her face and wearing what appeared to be a red wig.

The teller attempted to keep her in the drive-through lane. The teller discovered that the Visa card passed over along with a driver's license had been reported stolen a year ago.

After another RBC Bank employee pulled his own car beside hers to get better identification for police, the suspect left the bank in her silver Jeep Liberty, heading into the Walmart parking lot. As police arrived she pulled onto Windward Parkway and was then pulled over in a traffic stop.

Milton police found a red wig in her car, along with documents that might be related to the suspected forgery.

They also removed a paper "temporary" tag to reveal the car's actual license plate.

Kelly Marie Mazon-Perez, 43, of Pompano Beach, FL, was arrested and cited for first degree forgery, drugs to be kept in original container, expired driver's license, driver's license not on person, tinted tag cover and removal/affixing license plate with intent to conceal vehicle identification. She remains in jail in lieue of $13,000 bond.

Mail Theft Involves Hundreds of Potential Victims

The check might have been in the mail, but it's probably gone now. Every resident of Orion Apartments on Morris Road is a potential victim because someone broke into the complex's mailroom and went through every mailbox the night of Jan. 12-13.

Someone had pried open the mailroom's door and rifled through all 554 mailboxes.

Milton police have turned over the investigation to the U.S. Postal Service.

Credit, Debit Card Used Fraudulently Online

A Heron Run Court resident reported to Milton police on Jan. 11 that someone had fraudulently used her credit and debit cards to spend more than $1,100 at walmart.com and simplexity.com.

She told police that the Capital One credit card and SunTrust debit card have been cancelled, and now her banks want a police report filed. She said she has no idea who could have used her card information.

Electrical Wire Thieves Make Home Construction Costly

A home under construction on Horsham Trail in Milton is costing more than Peachtree Residential planned to spend, as someone ripped out electrical wire that will cost $3,000 to replace because of damage done in the removal.

The crime was reported Jan. 12.

As the home is under construction, it doesn't have any doors yet to keep people out.
