Attempted Burglaries Hit Milton Golf Course Homes

Police responded to three attempted break-in calls in same neighborhood.

Homes around the Alpharetta Athletic Club East Course were the scenes of attempted break-ins that in at least two cases were foiled by the homeowner or a burglar alarm.

A Milton homeowner who heard a noise late at night scared off a large man attempting to break into her home on April 26.

At nearly the same time and almost directly acorss the golf course from that residence, a burglar alarm seemed to have scared off another burglary attempt.

It was just before midnight when the Wolf Willow Close resident said she heard a noise when she was in bed, according to an incident report by Milton Police Officer J.M. Hickerson. Believing it was one of her cats wanting to go outside, she got out of bed and walked into the living area. Through the three windows looking out onto the home's back deck, she saw someone trying to get in the door to her home from the back porch. When she turned the living room light on, the man ran down the stairs and away from her home.

Her description stated the suspect was approximately her husband's size–6 foot, 3 inches tall and 250 pounds.

A window looking out onto the back deck had been forced open, damaging its lock and the wood.

Officer Hickerson had spotted two brothers on Creek Club Drive just 10 minutes earlier who claimed to be "muddin." Based on their physical size, and how close they were to the attempted break-in, their names were entered into the report

Officer A. Noblett was dispatched to an Eighteenth Fairway home from the Wolf Willow Close scene when that call came in. He met with the homeowner, who said he and his wife were asleep when the burglar alarm went off.

The homeowner found a window in the study had been pulled up slightly. Pollen prevented Officer Noblett from getting any fingerprints, but pry marks were consistent with what happened at Wolf Willow Close.

Footprints were found in the dew near both homes.

The next afternoon, on April 27, the daughter of another Wolf Willow Close homeowner noticed the front garage window was open when she stopped by to check on the home. She called 911 and Milton Officers C.A. Ward and Mulvey checked the residence, but did not find anyone inside or any damage.

Officer Ward reported finding pry marks to the window lock. Her mother's neighbor, whose home also had been the scene of an attempted burglary, confirmed the damage was consistent with what happened at her home.

Nothing was reported missing at the time.
