Alpharetta Public Safety To Undergo Accreditation Review

The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety will host a public input meeting as part of its efforts to have its national accreditation renewed.

A national law enforcement accreditation agency will soon begin its inspection of the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety as part of its accreditation renewal process.

A team with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) will assess all aspects of the department's police operations and management.

The week-long visit will include a public information and comment session that will get underway at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 at the city's Public Safety Headquarters.

The facility sits at 2565 Old Milton Parkway.

Residents will be allowed to share their take on public safety issues and services in Alphaetta.

Anyone who can't attend, but would like to offer comments can do so via telephone between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m Tuesday, March 25 by calling (678) 297-6352.

Comments must be limited to 10 minutes, and must address the agency's ability to comply with the 480 standards.

Written comments may also be submitted to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320 Gainesville, Virginia 22030-2215.

“The CALEA accreditation is a highly prized recognition of professional excellence in law enforcement,” states Alpharetta Public Safety Director Gary George. “As our department attempts to renew its national accreditation for another three year period I appreciate the support of our city leaders and the public we serve.”
