Alpharetta Police Charge Canton Man with Threatening Family Man

The following arrest information was supplied by the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 22-year-old Canton man was arrested after allegedly threatening an Alpharetta man who was joining his family for dinner at a North Main Street restaurant.

An incident report from the Alpharetta Deaprtment of Public Safety states that the father was walking to La Parrilla restaurant after dropping his family at its front door before parking on Dec. 27. The suspect was in the parking lot and started yelling at the father. When he noticed the suspect had a knife in his hand, he ran and called 911 just before 6 p.m.

The Canton man at first wasn't cooperative with police, refusing to leave his truck where they had found him. Eventually they report he admitted to officers that he had started the confrontation and later pulled a knife in response to the other man parking too close to his truck.

When an officer took the suspect to the Alpharetta Jail, at first he wouldn't get out of his car. Once inside the building, jail staff had to physically restrain him until placing him in an isolation cell.

Justin Scott Wright, 22, of Heritage Town Parkway, Canton, was charged with aggravated assault, a felony, and released on a $10,000 surety bond on Dec. 28.
