Alpharetta Police Captain On Leave After Wife's Arrest

Fulton County Schools arrests Harth in connection with theft of booster funds.

An Alpharetta Police captain has been placed on leave after the arrest of his wife in connection with the theft of thousands of dollars of athletic booster club funds from Alpharetta High School.

Patricia Harth was arrested on April 22 by Fulton County Schools Police in reference to the theft of thousands of dollars of athletic booster club funds from Alpharetta High School last week. She is the wife of Alpharetta Police captain Kirk Harth.

Alpharetta placed Captain Harth on administrative leave once the city learned of his wife's arrest, according to a release from Assistant City Adminsitrator James Drinkard. The leave is pending the outcome of an investigation to determine if he had any involvement in or knowledge of the alleged criminal activity.

Alpharetta officials have contacted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to request that the agency conduct the investigation.

The release said that while there has been no indication that Captain Harth had anything to do with this situation, the city "believes it is important that a full and independent investigation be conducted."
