Alpharetta Police Blotter: July 3-9

The following arrest information was supplied by the Milton Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Suspicious Driving Leads to DUI Charge  

A Grayson woman was pulled over on July 4 after an Alpharetta police officer noticed her weaving within the lane of travel and crossing the line several times. She was also traveling 86 mph in a 65 mph zone. She was charged with DUI, speeding and failure to maintain lane.

On July 3, dispatchers notified officers of a possibly impaired driver traveling south on GA 400. The responding officer noticed the suspect vehicle swerving. The driver was slow to respond to the flashing blue lights of the officers' patrol car, but after brief delay pulled over to the right shoulder just south of Haynes Bridge Road.

The driver told the officer of having just been beat up upon which the officer noticed the driver’s right side of forehead was swollen. The driver refused emergency attention. Concerned for the driver, the officer brought driver to the hospital and left a copy of charges. Driver was charged with multiple offenses including DUI-alcohol, DUI-drugs and failure to maintain lane.

No Seatbelt Leads to Possession Charge

On July 4 a Gray man was pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt. He was the passenger of the vehicle.

The officer asked for permission to search the vehicle after noticing suspicious behavior. Permission was granted and the officer found a bag of marijuana under the front passenger seat.

The passenger claimed ownership and was placed under arrest. He was charged with possession of marijuana and failure to wear a seatbelt. The driver and car were released on the scene.

Underage DUI

A Roswell woman was pulled over on July 7 after an officer noticed her drifting across the center lane divider several times. The officer recorded her speed as 62 mph in a 45 mph speed zone.

After verifying that she was underage the officer performed a field sobriety test. The woman was charged with DUI Alcohol under 21, minor in possession of alcohol, failure to maintain lane and speeding.

Man Refuses Taxi, Obtains DUI

On July 9 an Alpharetta man was pulled over in his subdivision after dispatch got a tip that he may be driving while impaired. According to a local restaurant employee, the man refused to take a taxi home. The employee notified authorities and gave a description of the vehicle and driver.

An officer pulled over a car matching the description. The driver was charged with DUI Alcohol and DUI less safe.

 

UPS Driver Reports Reckless Driver

On July 9 a Roswell man was stopped after a UPS driver noticed suspicious behavior. The officer activated emergency equipment to initiate a traffic stop. The driver then stopped in the middle of the road instead of pulling to the right of the road as required by law.  Upon failing a field sobriety test the man was arrested. He was charged with DUI alcohol, DUI less safe, failure to maintain lane and driving while unlicensed.

 

Police Uncover Several Thefts

Law enforcement was called to Dicks Sporting Goods store on North Point Parkway on July 9 to resolve a civil dispute between an employee and three males. A verbal argument began when the employee confronted the men with shoplifting allegations. The three suspects left the scene leaving behind shopping bags containing stolen goods from stores located in North Point Mall. Two of the three men were apprehended near a MARTA bus stop and charged with theft by receiving stolen property and giving false name/information to police.
