Alpharetta Police Arrest Atlanta Rapper Young Jeezy

The following arrest information was supplied by the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety. It does not indicate a conviction.

Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy was arrested at his girlfriend's house in Alpharetta after refusing to identify himself to police.

According to a report on the Jan. 21 incident in Alpharetta, police responded to a panic alarm at an Adagio Drive home. Officers checked the front and rear of the townhome.

An officer reported a man answered his knock on the back door of the townhome, opening the door a small amount. After explaining officers were there to ensure the female caller was safe, the man later identified as Jay Jenkins of East Point told them his girlfriend was fine and just left her home. He refused to let them search her home. He also refused to show them any identification.

An officer grabbed his arm and told Jenkins he was under arrest. According to the officer's report, Jenkins struggled as they attempted to put handcuffs on him, only stopping when an officer put a taser at his back.

A passport was found in his pocket when he was searched, identifying him as Jay Wayne Jenkins.

Jenkins, 36, of Marketplace Blvd., East Point, was charged with misdemeanor obstruction and taken to Fulton County Jail's Alpharetta Annex. He was released late Tuesday on $1,000 bond, the AJC reports.

"This was a panic alarm call and officers needed to determine if a crime had taken place. For reasons unknown to us, the male would not cooperate, became verbally abusive and escalated the situation which resulted in his lawful arrest," said George Gordon, spokesman for the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety in a statement released about the arrest.

"This incident could have been avoided if the male had provided the information needed on scene to our police officers," the statement said.

This was the second time the rapper has been arrested this month.Β On Jan. 3, Jenkins surrenderedΒ on battery, false imprisonment and terroristic threats charges for an alleged fight with his son in 2012 after a warrant was issued for his arrest, according to a story on AJC.com.Β
