Alpharetta Office Building Damaged in Fire

The Professional Covenant Building on Crabapple Road suffered extensive damage in an early Friday morning fire.

A building along Crabapple Road that was home to a medical and dental practices was damaged in a fire early Friday morning.

At around 3:30 a.m., Alpharetta 911 received a call about a "large fire" at the Convenant Professional Building located at 12385 Crabapple Road, said George Gordon, public information officer for the city's Department of Public Safety.

Fire units from both Alpharetta and Milton responded, as both cities have an automatic aid agreement in which dispatchers will send the closest fire or police units in times of emergencies.

Firefighters who arrived first onto the scene observed the building smothered in flames and smoke. The flames coming from the building measured about 50 feet from the roof, Gordon said.

A total of 25 firefighters battled the blaze and the building eventually became "fully involved," Gordon added, noting the office building's roof eventually collapsed.

The Professional Covenant Building, which houses several businesses including dental and pediatrics offices, suffered heavy damage in the overnight blaze.

Gordon said two small refrigerators containing widely-used vaccinations were salvaged by firefighters.

The Alpharetta fire marshal will launch an investigation into the blaze as soon as the scene is safe, Gordon said.
