Alpharetta Drug Bust Follows Thrown Beer Bottle, Bad Driving

Twelve-pack of beer, thousands in cash found inside car.

An Alpharetta officer tipped off about a car with four occupants driving erratically on Windward Parkway made a traffic stop that turned into a drug bust on March 28.

Officer H. Miller heard the dispatcher's notification to be on the lookout for a silver Ford Fusion and that a passenger threw a beer bottle out the window of the car. A minute after pulling over on GA 400 south of Haynes Bridge Road, he saw the suspect vehicle drive by. When Miller pulled the car over on the Mansell Road overpass, he first saw a 12-pack of beer on the back seat between two passengers. He also noticed "an overwhelming odor of marijuana coming from inside the car."

When a suspect identified as Levaughn Gray was being searched, Miller's incident report said the suspect reached into his left front pocket. A small plastic baggie was found in his pocket that police suspect was cocaine.
