Sgt. Shelton told Cumming Patch that Chambers, who was driving a 2011 black Hyundai Accent, didn't realize he was on the wrong side of the road after turning off of Jot Em Down Road.

"He turned too short and was traveling southbound on the northbound lanes," (of Georgia 400) he said. "He thought he was in the right lane of travel, but he wasn't."

Daws, who was traveling northbound on Georgia 400 in a 2011 silver Hyundai Sonata, tried to avoid Chambers' car by turning left, according to the incident report. When Chambers noticed Daws' car he attempted to turn right, but instead crashed head on into her car. The impact sent both vehicles spinning in a counter-clockwise direction finally coming to a stop in the gore area of the highway.

The night of the crash no charges were filed against Chambers pending a toxicology report.

"We just wanted to make sure he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol," said Shelton. "They're not suspected."

But Shelton did note since the night of the accident Chambers has been charged with wrong side of roadway and inattentive driving.
