Vote For Doug DeRito

Dear Alpharetta friends and neighbors,

My name is Jim Berlo. My wife Nancy and I are writing to urge you to vote in this year's City Council
election before or on November 5th.

Two years ago Donald Mitchell asked us for our support. Not only did we agree to support him, I
served as his Campaign Manager. We realized pretty quickly that we made a mistake. Alpharetta
deserves a council member who has personal and professional integrity. We expect our city
officials to represent the city in a positive light. Donald Mitchell has done just the opposite. In fact,
his antics on television have soiled Alpharetta's great reputation.

We do not take the decision to change our support lightly. We would not write this letter to you if
we did not feel passionately about this election. Our families deserve better.

So why specifically are we changing our vote? Big Rich Atlanta. Big Rich Atlanta was a reality
television series that aired on the Style Network that featured our Councilman Donald Mitchell. In
the episode where Donald Mitchell appears (you can find clips of this episode on YouTube), you can
see our Councilman using profanity, speaking down to women using derogatory and disparaging
language (think of the "B"), putting his head up a woman's dress, crawling around chasing women,
being publicly intoxicated and throwing glassware all around. We were shocked and sick when we
saw it. This isn't our style. We abhor his thoughtless actions and we could not in good conscious
continue supporting Donald after watching this embarrassing event.

We were extremely pleased to hear that Doug DeRito is running for city council. We have known
Doug and his family for many years. We are proud to give Doug our full support.

Doug DeRito is a family man with three children. He is an Accountant and Partner with a major
international tax consulting firm. Doug has integrity and credentials that are unmatched for
managing our finances and keeping our City moving forward. Just as important, we know what
we're getting with Doug. He served on the city council for 10 years and played a major part in
making Alpharetta what it is today. Doug has never done anything to embarrass our City.

We're asking you to vote early or on November 5th. We're asking you to join us in voting for
