Obituary: Wayne Pierce Herrington

Herrington was an avid rock-and-roll guitarist and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Atlanta children's charities.

Wayne Pierce Herrington, beloved husband and father, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda McCroan Herrington and his three children: daughter, Alexis Herrington and two sons, Carson Herrington and Colton Herrington; his mother and father Nancy and Lee Herrington of Syracuse New York, two brothers: Brad Herrington and wife Debbie of Hampton, Georgia and Matt Herrington of Washington D.C., one sister, Susan Herrington and husband Dominic Lopes; 4 nephews; two aunts: Lucy Eubanks and husband Dwaine, and Fay Ruotolo and husband, John; Mother-in-Law Carolyn McCroan and Father-in-law Hershel McCroan.

Wayne was married to his wife Brenda for 18 wonderful years. Wayne was a wonderful father and devoted husband who left his family a legacy of love.


Wayne grew up in Syracuse, New York and was educated at Syracuse University. He worked at Willis North America, Inc. as a national partner and regional executive officer of the Southern Region. Previously he worked several years as a managing director at Marsh & McLennan.

Wayne was an avid rock-and-roll guitarist since his teens. Wayne loved to play and practice with his band of fellow insurance professionals, which played throughout the United States and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Atlanta children’s charities. He will be deeply missed by families and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held at Alpharetta First United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.

Reception will follow the internment at the Herrington Family Home located at 2735 Manor Bridge Drive, Alpharetta, GA 30004.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to MD Anderson to benefit research to cure Double-Hit B Cell Lymphoma.
