Obituary: Eugene P. Jones, World War II Vet, First Baptist Deacon

Roswell's Northside Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory is handling funeral arrangements.

Eugene "Gene" P. Jones, 87, of Alpharetta, died Sunday, May 26, according to his Northside Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory obituary.

Born in Jasper, GA to Julius and Lucy Kiker Jones, Jones was retired from Lockheed Martin after 38 years of service. He was a World War II Army veteran, a Mason, member of the Gideons International and a longtime member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Alpharetta.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Freddie Price Jones; sisters, Norma Simmons and Edna James and brother, George Edward Jones. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Jones; sister-in-law, Vern Haley Jones and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 29 at 2 p.m. at Northside Chapel. The Rev. Ed Schrader will be officiating. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors, 12050 Crabapple Road in Roswell.

Those who wish may make donations in his memory to the First Baptist Church of Alpharetta at 44 Academy Street in Alpharetta or The Gideons International at P.O. Box 1131 in Roswell.
