Stadium Records Tumble as Milton Hosts Largest Track & Field Meet in School History

Nine stadium records by visiting schools and one Milton school record shattered as Marist, Pope & Mill Creek dominate Showcase Meet

Pope’s girls (1st-92.5 pts) & Mill Creek’s boys (1st-97 pts) were the team winners at the Milton T&F Showcase meet in what was the largest track & field gathering ever hosted by the Eagles.  The combined title went to the War Hawks as well as Mill Creek’s girls were 3rd (83 pts). Host Milton held their own against the big track powers of the state as the Lady Eagles (4th-70 pts) combined with the Milton boys (8th-38.5 pts) to finish 4th in the overall team standings (108.5 pts)!  The War Eagles of Marist had the biggest day with their athletes breaking 6 stadium records (girls: 4x1600, 4x800 high jump, 1600 & boys’ discus & 300 hurdles). The Raiders of Walton took down 2 stadium records in the boys 3200 & 4x1600 relay & Centennial set a new record in the boys 800 Sprint Medley Relay.

The Lady Eagles held their own by finishing 4th out of 19 competing teams.  Senior Kia Carson again was Milton’s top point-grabber as she won the long jump in a new school record of 16’-11.5” now owning the record outright, one that she had shared with 2 others at 16’-8”.  A runner-up finish in the 100 meters along with 100 meter carries on the victorious 800 meter sprint medley relay (1:54.02, 2nd fastest time in school history) & the 5th place 4x100 meter relay (51.89)!  The Lady Eagles saw the return of senior Devin Artis with a big 400 meter carry on that victorious 800 SMR & a runner-up finish in the 400 meters.  The remaining members of that relay were Simone Harford & Caroline Winnett. Other big scorers for Milton were Anne Neenan’s runner-up finish in the 800 (2:24.95), a 4th place by the 4x800 relay (10:47.95) and a 4th place by Riley Burr in the 1600 (5:36.47).
