Milton HS Track Teams Kick-Off Season at Marietta Distance Carnival

Two top-10 all-time relay marks lead Eagles to a 2nd & 3rd place finish at inaugural meet.

Led by two 8th best performances in Milton school history, the Eagles kicked-off their 2014 track season in very cold & blustery conditions at the first-time ever rendition of the Marietta HS Distance Carnival track meet.

Girls

Team-wise the Lady Eagles led thru the entire meet and eventually finished 2nd (43 pts) losing to host Marietta (48 pts).  Milton finished well clear of Parkview (3rd-36 pts), Blessed Trinity (4th-24 pts), North Oconee (5th-23 pts) & Northview (6th-22 pts).

Individually, the Lady Eagles were led by the overall victory by junior Amy Ruiz in the 3200 meters (12:43.15) followed by the 2nd place effort by fellow junior Meagan Thistleton (13:44.84). A 3rd place by sophomore Anna Renko (2:37.72) in the 800 meters and a 6th place by freshman Alyssa Milton (6:51.68) in the 1600 meters concluded all the individual scorers.

In the relays, Milton ran to the 8th best time in school history in the 4x1600. The Lady Eagles posted a 23:40.74, which was good enough for 3rd place in the most competitive relay event in the meet.

Parkview (50 pts) was the overall winner, followed by host Marietta (2nd-45 pts). Milton dispatched North Oconee (4th-30 pts) & Blessed Trinity & Northview (both 5th-26 pts).

The lone victory for Milton was the Eagles 4x1600 relay. In a back & forth battle for the first 2-legs, Milton was able to pull away with a very strong 3rd-leg to run the 8th fastest time in school history!
