Milton HS Track & Field Teams Split with Centennial

Lady Eagles win and boy’s settle for 2nd on a cold & blustery night

Wednesday evening was a frigid affair between the Knights and the Eagles at Centennial’s “Fortress Stadium” as the Milton track teams split with Centennial. The Lady Eagles (1st-59 pts) used scoring in the sprints, field events & wining both relays to outpace the Lady Knights (2nd-45 pts) whereas the boys were close to being double-scored on with Milton (44 pts) trailing Centennial (83 pts) in the end.

GIRLS

The Lady Eagles were once again led by senior Kia Carson. Her win in the 100 meters & the long jump and relay carries on the winning 4x100 & 4x400 paced the Milton scoring.  Sophomore Anna Renko took second in two events (200 meters & 400 meters) and ran the anchor leg on the victorious 4x400 relay team. Senior Caroline Winnett contributed major points with her 2nd place in the 300 meter hurdles and her relay carries on both the 4x100 & 4x400. In the field Kelsey McGinnis won the shot and was 2nd in the discus to provide big meets points for the victorious Lady Eagles.

BOYS

Milton had a strong showing in the sprints with Martin Williams going 3rd in the 100 meters and winning the 200 meters. In the 200 meters Milton runners went 1st through 8th! In the 100 meters the Eagles finished 2nd thru 6th!  A win in the 300 meter hurdles by Justin Taylor added some more valuable meet team points along with Corey Claiborne’s wins in the shot put and 2nd place in the discus led all the scoring for the Milton team.

Next up for the varsity track teams is the Milton Showcase home meet this Saturday at Milton where the Eagles will entertain 20 schools from the metro-Atlanta area including state championship programs from Marist & Mill Creek.  The JV teams will next head to Cambridge HS on Thursday, March 6th for a dual meet with the Bears as they host their first-ever track meet.
